Feast Or Famine

We often live in a mindset of feast or famine— having or not having, abundance or lack. This is the state that keeps us suffering. But there is a sacred place between feast and famine:a place of peace, enoughness, and a quiet contentment that does not rise or fall with the conditions of our lives.

We imagine freedom is having everything we want. But true freedom is the ability to feel peace and happiness in each moment, regardless of what life brings. We live in a world where almost anything we desire is available at our fingertips, yet we feel starved inside. We hunger for what we do not have, believing something out there—success, approval, visibility, validation will finally fill us.

And yet, even when the table of life is overflowing, we can feast in the moment and still wake with the pangs of emptiness. Because fullness doesn’t come from what sits on the table, but from what sits in the heart.

Thanksgiving is not a holiday. It is a state of mind. A way of living every single day. In the hard times and the bright ones, there is always a living blessing moving through your life—quiet, constant, faithful. Let your heart be the place where feast and famine dissolve and gratitude becomes the way you breathe. Make each day a reason to give thanks. Make each day a reason to give thanks.
